Obituary of E Mason Whipkey

E. Mason Whipkey, 92, of Easy Living Estates, Hunker, formerly of Connellsville, entered Life Eternal on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Westmoreland Manor. He was born March 13, 1911, in Connellsville, the son of the late William Linley and Goldie Mason Whipkey. He was a lifelong member of Otterbein United Methodist Church of Connellsville, where he was a very active member. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks #503 of Connellsville. He graduated from Connellsville High School, Class of 1928. He was employed as a contractor by W.L. Whipkey Lumber Co., a longtime Connellsville business. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Stickel Whipkey, whom he married on Jan. 10, 1936; a daughter, Kay Hassinger and her husband, Dale, of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Debra Hassinger Madia and her husband, Jeffrey, of Cary, N.C., and Robert E. Hassinger, and his wife, Terri, of Virginia Beach, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Marisa, Kayla, Chance, Kyle and Bret; a sister, Ruth Marietta
