Comments: Obituary for James Dresback
Monticello friends of J. H. Dresback, DeLand, were shocked to learn of his death which occurred that evening, July 26, 1929. He had returned from his grocery store in the evening and after doing chores was eating supper when the fatal stroke came without warning. Funeral services were held in the home with burial in the Monticello cemetery.
Mr. Dresback is survived by his widow, who prior to their marriage on September 10, 1902 was Annabelle Stickel; their children: Gladys of New York City; Robert and Richard of Pontiac MI; and Howard, at home. He is also survived by his father, John, Monticello; and the following brothers: Ernest, Miami FL; Ray, Chicago; and Fred and Jess, Monticello. A sister, Mrs. Mattie Dean of this city, died about two months ago.
"Jerky" as he was called by everyone, was a splendid man, well liked by all; he will be greatly missed. He had been in the grocery business in DeLand for the past fifteen years. He was elected president of that village at the recent election.
Piatt Co. Republican: July 25, 1929
