Obituary
Rex King, 88, of Afton, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Rex L. King, son of Bernita (Fleming) King and Clell Howard King was born February 21, 1919 in Afton, Ia.
He graduated from Afton High School in 1937. On September 11, 1941, Rex married Keitha Jean Applegate in Afton. They settled on a farm in Dodge Township where the lived and farmed until 1967.
They moved into Afton and Rex began working for Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company where he continued to work as a crop adjuster for the next 27 years.
Rex had been an active member of the Afton Methodist Church and the Dodge Center Church prior to the move into Afton. Rex was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He had also served as President of the East Union School Board, a 4-H leader for many years and also served on the Greenlawn Cemetery Board.
Survivors include his wife Keitha King of Afton; a daughter, Ellyn Anne King of Southlake, Tex.; a son Richard Charles King of Shawnee, Kan.; sister-in-law, Francine King of Creston; five grandchildren, David Winn, Darin Winn, Diane Harden, Raquel Nelson and Raelynn King-Barnhart; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harvey Eugene King, father and mother-in-law, and a brother-in-law, Dean Applegate.
