Marriage to Margaret Unknown? (Stickles) (?)
Comments: Zachariah Stickles, Jr., b. c. 1760 m. Margaret, who some unknown researcher identified as a Struble, but which proof is lacking. He is presumed to be the Zacharias Stickle found on the 1793 military census of Newton.

Inventory of his estate dated 21 July 1802, having d. before that date, Margaret appointed administratrix. Fellowbondsmen, Andrew Stickle and Joseph Hill, all of Newton township. Zachariah’s marker in Huntsville Cemetery, Green Township has been transcribed with an age of 43 years but no dates. A visit to this cemetery in May 2001 failed to find this marker. Margaret m. 16 Sept 1805 (Sussex County marriage record) (2)John Hanna. On 16 Feb 1815 (C2:457) Andrew Stickles and wife, Elizabeth conveyed two tracts, one of which was subject to a dower right to Zachariah Stickles and Philip Stickles. These two lots were 2/10 interests in lots 1 and 3 of the original half interest of the first Zachariah Stickles in the Stickles homestead farm and of Zachariah, Jr. On 5 Mar 1813 (C2:410) John Hanna sold all his interest in his wife's dower rights to Richard Allen. In a separate deed with the same date (D2:157) but not recorded until later, Margaret Hanna conveyed her dower rights to Richard Allen. On 17 Aug 1816 Richard Allen and wife, Elizabeth conveyed 1/10 interest in lot 1 to Joshua Hill (F2:388). On 20 June 1822 (V2:293) Adam Stickles conveyed a 2/10 interest in lots 1 and 3 to Philip Stickles.

Adam and Philip are both identified as sons of Zachariah Stickles Jr. This left a 5/10 interest in lots 1 and 3, which can be concluded to be 2/10 for Zachariah, 2/10 for Philip, and 1/10 for Margaret, the remaining children of Zachariah and Margaret Stickles. On 24 Apr 1823 Philip purchased the 1/10 interest from Margaret Stickles (X2:319). On 21 Mar 1831 Zachariah Stickles and wife, Susan and Abraham Stickles conveyed all their rights in lots 1 and 3 to Philip Stickles (L3:5) and Zachariah Stickles (L3:7). In this deed, Zachariah and Abraham were sons of Andrew Stickles. It is assumed that this was essentially a quit claim, the meaning of the earlier deed from Andrew Stickles being obscure. The estate of Zachariah and Margaret's daughter Margaret Savacool is very important in further identifying this family.
