Marriage to Richard Allen (1777 - 1 Aug 1862)
- Richard was the son of Thomas Allen
Comments: Elizabeth Stickles b. c. 1792 m. Richard Allen b. c. 1777 son of Thomas Allen. On 9 Feb 1811 Richard and Elizabeth were among the heirs of Thomas Allen who conveyed 220 acres of his estate to his son Joshua Allen. On 15 Mar 1813 (Z:334) Richard Allen bought a 30 acre tract from Charles Pemberton who had bought it at a sheriff's sale from John and Margaret Hanna (Z:342) on 4 Jan 1810. On 17 June 1813 Richard bought a 34 acre tract from Job S. Halstead (A2:91), this tract adjoining the Stickles homestead farm. On 17 Aug 1816 Richard and Elizabeth sold these two tracts, together with their interests in the Stickles homestead to Joshua Hill (F2:387,88). In 1819 a Richard Allen bought a 13.52 acre tract in Stillwater township (O2:251), which was sold 25 Mar 1851 from the estate of Samuel Hill and gives no clue as to how he obtained title (L4:244).

On 9 Sept 1822 there are two deeds to various "children of Richard Allen deceased" for land in Stillwater township, but his widow is Sarah Allen (A3:8, A3:10). The 1830 census shows a Richard Allen as a head of household. They removed about 1835 to Vigo County, Indiana and resided in Honey Creek Township near Praireton. Elizabeth d. 5 Aug 1841 49y (ts) and Richard d. 1 Aug 1862 85y (ts) buried Praireton Cemetery. The 1868 court case of her sister Margaret Savacool refers to Elizabeth Allen, wife of Richard Allen, residence unknown, but who is supposed to reside in Indiana. The decree of distribution refers to "children of Elizabeth Allen deceased, whose names are unknown."
Residence History: In 1835 they moved to Vigo County, Indiana and resided in Honey Creek Township near Praireton, Indiana.
