Walter R. Stickel, Jr., 82, of Richmond, retired Fire Chief with the County of Henrico Division of Fire, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ina Cridlin Stickel; four daughters, Sharon Blackwell and husband, Bill, Lynne O'Reilly and husband, Tom, Jean Hales and husband, Brian, and Christine McDearmon and husband, Jim; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Stickel was preceded in death by his paents, Walter and Erma Stickel; and his brother, Dr. Ernest "Tony" Stickel. Mr. Stickel was a member of the Sandston Masonic Lodge #216, a member and past patron of the Blanche-Spencer Chapter #11 O.E.S., also a member of Fairfield Ruritan Club, an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and a retired Corpsman from the U.S Navy, who served in World War II and the Korean War. He served with Henrico Division of Fire Department for over 30 years, including Fire Chief for over 12 years. Nelsen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2007, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Highland Springs. Interment in Washington Memorial Park Cemetery.
