Funeral of Hannah Stickel

The funeral of Mrs Hannah Stickel was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the M. E. church at Elwin, Rev. A.M.Danely officiating. The internment was at the Mt. Gilead cemetery. The pall bearers were H. C. Kaylor, W. Davenport, William Klop, Adam Frederick, G W Shiveley and Hiram Ward.

Hannah Bell was born in York County, Pa., Nov. 19, 1808. On March 24, 1834, she was married to Peter Stickel, who died June 22, 1876. Five children were born to them, two of whom are dead. Peter Wesley died in 1868 and Rachel died in 1851 in her infancy. The suriving children are David, who resides at Elwin; Lewis who lives in Missouri, and Edwin of Nashville, 'Tenn. The family moved from Pennsylvania to Macon county in 1860 in order that the children might enjoy the advantages which the then new west offered.

Mrs. Stickel was a true Christian woman and was dearly beloved by all who knew her.
