Henry's Personal Information
Born in Cologne, State N/A, Germany on May 13, 1729 (Estimated)
Occupation: famous ironmaster/glassmaker
Died in Unknown City/Co, Pennsylvania (PA), USA Date of Death: Unknown
1st Marriage to Elisabeth Huber
- Elizabeth Huber had two daughters with Henry
2nd Marriage to Elisabeth Holtz
- Elizabeth Holtz had one son with Henry
3rd Marriage to Elisabeth Unknown?
- Henry may have had a third wife, and if he did, her name was also Elisabeth and she died about 1804. There were seven minor children (don't know if Henry fathered all of them) and all were orphans in 1804. We are not yet certain that this Henry was actually the same man as the famous industrialist. One child was Margaret. Another might have been Samuel (?). Other children's names are unknown at this point.
Comments: The birthdate of 13 May 1729? and his place of birth in Cologne, Germany is a likely possiblity and is not yet known for certain.

Henry's lastname was Stiegel or possibly Stickel.

Henry was married at least twice, and Jacob was from his second marriage.

Anthony (Henry's younger brother) had children by two wives Maria Elizabeth Glessner and Christina Neip. The children's names are available elsewhere.

Henry's date and place of death are officially still a mystery. The traditional date of his death is Jan. 10, 1785 and the place of death is Charming Forge, Berks County, PA. Jed Kensinger and others dispute this fact.

Civil records and a gravestone exist for a person named "Henry Stickel" who died Jan. 9, 1802 in Rapho Township (near Manheim), Lancaster County. The "Henry Stickel" just noted was survived by a wife Elisabeth and seven children, according to civil records. (see above) Questions remain: What were their names? Where did they live out their lives?

As a further note regarding the "Henry Stickel" noted above. Courthouse documents indicate multiple spellings of the last name as: Steigle, Stiegel, Stieckle, Stickle and one reference that actually states "Steigel (Alias Stickle)"

Any additional information would be appreciated.
