He was a member of the Mayflower Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Society of Colonial Wars, Founders and Patriots of America and Governor Bradford Society.

Glenn Marion Peterson, 86, of Wilmette, Illinois passed away Friday, December 4, 2009.
He was born on April 5, 1923 in Belvidere, IL, the son of Louis Peterson and Lura Dillingham Peterson.
Glenn graduated top of his class in high school from Brethen, MI, and went on to earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Michigan State in Agricultural Engineering. On December 15, 1942, Glenn was enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he saw combat in the European theater during World War II with the 75th Infantry Division earning three bronze stars. He was involved in the Rhineland, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) and Central Europe Campaigns (Colmar Pocket), and was proud of his "combat infantry pin" which earned him an extra $15.00 per month.
Glenn married Gloria Anne Adams (deceased 12/1/99) in 1950, then moved to Mexico City where their first of their four sons was born. He traveled extensively through central and South America during the 1950's flying on Pan Am double-deckers, selling construction equipment that built the Pan American Highway from Mexico to Columbia. Glenn worked as a University Professor in the 1960's through the 1980's living overseas in such places as Bangladesh, Nigeria, Somalia, Malawi, and Jamaica. His expertise was in rice cultivation and he taught modern agricultural techniques which helped these and other impoverished nations to become self-sufficient. Glenn worked with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations, Save the Children, Texas A&M University, University of Wisconsin, and the University of Missouri. In between overseas assignments in the early 1970's, he worked for a company that sold the equipment to install large sheets of glass in skyscrapers and sold the equipment to the builders of the World Trade Centers. Glenn enjoyed traveling, photography, stamp collecting, reading books and was a genealogy enthusiast and expert. He was preceded in death by wife, Gloria, and his two brothers, Louis and Wesley Peterson. Glenn is survived by four sons: Gary Glenn Peterson, Grant Mark Peterson, Gregg Matthew Peterson and Glenn Guy Peterson; and by 11 grandchildren: Adam Peterson, Timothy Peterson, William Peterson, Glenn Peterson, Laurel Peterson, Hannah Peterson, Harris Peterson and Sarah Peterson, Katherine Peterson, George Peterson and Thomas Peterson.
In the Peterson family, Glenn was the last of the Greatest Generation and had lived through the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II; let us not forget the face of our father.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 12th at 10:00 AM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd, Valparaiso. Private burial will take place at Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, IL. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
