Comments: Charles Henry King was instrumental in establishing the town of Riverton, Wyoming in 1906. He was a mover and shaker in establishing many towns in Wyoming. He was among the first to set up mercantile stores at Ft. Fetterman, Douglas, Glenrock, Casper, Shoshoni, and Riverton from the mid 1880's to 1906. He also had banks, lumber companies, and string teams to haul freight to the Arapahoe and Shoshone tribes at Ft. Washakie and Arapahoe in addition to the towns. It was reported that the main office was in Omaha, Nebraska. (information from Leniegh Schrinar, volunteer at Riverton Museum Research Center.) There is also evidence of him being in the Territory of Utah in 1893 from land records in Weber County, Utah Territory (from Gerald R. Ford library).

Age 27 - US 1880 Census at Rochester, Olmsted Co., Minnesota, "Mattie" King was age 26 and was born in Indiana, as were her parents. She had a daughter Daisy, age 5, and 1 servant, Mary Olson, 17. Husband Charles King, age 27, b. PA, occupation: "Commercial Trav."

Age 47 - US 1900 Census at Casper, Natrona Co., Wyoming, Martha A. King was born in Indiana and her parents were born in Pennsylvania. She was age 43, born Nov 1856, had been married for 27 years, and had given birth to 12 children, only 5 of whom were still living. - Children living in the household: Charles C. B. King, age 17, b. Sep 1882 in Minnesota; Leslie L. King, age 15, b. July 1884 in Nebraska; Savillia J. King, age 14, b. Sep 1885 in Wyoming, and Marietta H. King, age 4, b. July 1895 in Nebraska. Husband Charles H. King, 44, b. March 1856 in PA, was a "Merchant" by occupation. Four servants also lived in the household.

Age 57 - US 1910 Census at Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska [7th Ward, address: 3202(?) Woolworth Ave.], Martha A. King was born in Pennsylvania, as were her parents. She was age 53, had been married for 33 years, and had borne 12 children, 5 of whom were still living. Children living in the household: Leslie L. King, age 29 (24?), b. Nebraska; Marietta King, 14, b. Nebraska. Husband Chas. H. King, 56, b. PA, was a "Wool Grower" (Raising Sheep) by occupation. Four servants also lived in the household.
